A secure learning environment in which children discover new things every day!
Home / RWF Vega 2
Our two pre-schools in Vega are located just a stone’s throw from each other, allowing educators to visit one another’s activities, draw inspiration, and collectively build a cohesive and equitable preschool experience within our school unit. We have spacious, fresh facilities spread over two floors, featuring five departments and a library. These spaces provide plenty of room for diverse meeting areas that invite children to explore, play, imagine, and interact.
To stimulate children’s curiosity and love of learning, we follow a well-established approach centered on pedagogical staging. This means we intentionally design the physical and social environment, creating various learning spaces where teaching takes place. Our present and attentive educators actively participate in the children’s investigations and explorations, placing learning at the core of our work.
We focus daily on fostering a calm working environment by dividing the children into smaller groups, ensuring that every child has the right conditions for development, learning, and a voice in their learning journey. This approach allows us to see the unique differences and emerging abilities in each child.
Language development is a priority, with educators serving as strong linguistic role models. We work with both verbal and non-verbal communication to strengthen the children’s language skills. Through this intentional effort, we contribute to a positive impact on society, recognizing that language and communication are foundational.
Together, we make a positive difference for every individual child and the community.

Children who feel secure in their learning environment can acquire knowledge, learn how to learn, and gain knowledge on their own! With us, children are provided with inspiring learning environments that foster curiosity and play, which in turn creates confident and secure children.
We actively work with our health profile, where we have physical activities every week while also placing great emphasis on recovery. Research shows that children have better memory, concentration, and self-esteem when they engage in physical activities, and as a preschool, we have a significant responsibility in shaping our future citizens.
In both planned and spontaneous teaching, we always focus on health, and we have two health coordinators at the preschool who take on extra responsibility for how we work with this.
We prioritize a language development approach that includes both verbal language and TAKK (Signs as Alternative and Augmentative Communication), ensuring that all children have the opportunity to make their voices heard. Educators serve as linguistic role models, fostering language growth through both planned and spontaneous activities.
For the youngest children, we use Babblarna to support speech and language training. With children aged 3–4 years, we incorporate a preparatory version of the Bornholm Model through rhymes, songs, and language games. For the oldest children, we prepare them for school using the full Bornholm Model, which strengthens phonological awareness and lays the foundation for reading and writing skills.
Our goal is to create a clear and consistent path from pre-school to school, ensuring a seamless transition and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
When you arrive at our facility, you are greeted by an inviting playground that encourages play and exploration. We have a large building where all of our departments are located. We also have a library that is available every day, offering opportunities for storytime and other activities aimed at promoting language development.
We are located in a newly established area with a variety of nearby amenities, including shops, a library with a rich cultural offering, a commuter train station, schools, and forested areas.
On the pre-school’s playgrounds and in the nearby forest areas, children are offered various educational activities every day that provide many benefits. These activities support their emotional and mental health, well-being, social skills, cognitive development, problem-solving abilities, as well as scientific learning.
In all our departments, there is a clear and consistent approach to project work, where the children’s participation and influence are central. Our learning environments are accessible, inviting, and permissive, with children’s creativity and creation at the heart of everything. We have thoughtfully designed spaces with various meeting places, offering a wide range of recycled and natural materials that stimulate children’s creativity, imagination, and ability to fantasize. Play is a central aspect where children process impressions, acquire new knowledge, and are given ample opportunities to reach their full potential. This is all supported by our dedicated and research-oriented preschool teachers and assistants, who are passionate about their mission.
For us, relationships and communication in pre-school are crucial for creating a safe and learning-focused environment for the children. A good relationship between educators, children, and parents is based on trust, respect, and open dialogue. The relationship between educators and children is fundamental, as it fosters security and trust. When children feel seen and heard, they dare to express their thoughts and needs, which in turn strengthens their self-esteem. Equally important is the relationship between all staff members and the parents. When parents feel involved in the pre-school’s activities and experience an open dialogue with us, together we create a secure foundation for the child. Open communication also makes it possible to collaborate on the child’s needs and create a holistic connection between home and pre-school.
At Raoul Wallenberg School in Skövde, there are 514 students. Two of them, Amanda Lindqvist (Grade 8) and Jacob Aldén (Grade 9), are both very satisfied with their choice of school. In this feature, they offer us a glimpse into their school day and warmly recommend RWS to others. When the option of “Student’s Choice” […]
