Position: Lower Secondary Teacher (Mathematics and Science Specialism Full-time
Reporting to: Head of School and Curriculum Coordinator (Secondary Team Leader)
Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary commensurate with the role’s responsibilities and the

The Opportunity

Raoul Wallenberg International School (RWIS) is seeking a dynamic and flexible Lower
Secondary Teacher specialising in Mathematics and Science to join our growing school for the
2025–2026 academic year. This is an exciting opportunity to teach Key Stage 3 students (Years
7–9, ages 11–14) while contributing to a vibrant, inquiry-based environment that prioritises both
academic excellence and character development.

Position Scope

Teaching and Learning:
● Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons in Mathematics, Science, and
potentially other subject areas – The RWIS Way!
● Incorporate project-based learning, service and experiential learning, education for
sustainable development and real-world applications into teaching to inspire curiosity
and critical thinking among students.
● Foster a cross-curricular approach by collaborating with teachers of other subjects to
integrate concepts across the curriculum.
● Promote inclusion and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of learners, ensuring
every student has access to the curriculum and opportunities to succeed.

Curriculum Planning and Assessment:
● Design, plan, and implement lessons across Mathematics and Science, ensuring a
balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application.
● Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate and monitor student progress,
providing timely feedback that supports learning.
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and manage student
data to track progress and identify areas for growth.
● Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency in curriculum planning and
assessment practices across subject areas and year groups 

Character Development and Values-Based Education:
● Support the development of students’ character through integration of the school’s
guiding principles and Class Connect Programme, fostering a sense of community and
respect.
● Model and instil core values such as honesty, compassion, courage, and drive in daily
teaching and interactions with students.

Student Wellbeing and Support:
● Prioritise the emotional and social wellbeing of students, ensuring they feel safe, valued,
and supported in their learning environment.
● Collaborate with the Student Life Coordinator and School Counsellor to address
individual student needs and create a nurturing environment for holistic development.

Collaboration and Community Building:
● Work collaboratively with colleagues across the secondary school to plan, deliver, and
review interdisciplinary teaching and learning programmes.
● Build meaningful relationships with students, families, and the wider school community,
ensuring open communication and strong partnerships.
● Actively participate in the school’s professional development programme and
contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Bringing Personal Passions to Life:
● Bring your unique skills, passions, and subject expertise into the classroom and the
wider school community, enriching students’ educational experiences.
● Contribute to the ASA (After School Activities) Programme by leading clubs, activities,
or workshops that align with your interests and talents.

Ideal Candidate

Qualifications and Experience:
● A degree in Secondary Education with specialisms in Mathematics, Science or a related
field, with preference for a Master’s degree or PhD.
● At least 2–3 years of teaching experience in secondary education, ideally within an
inquiry-based international and/or British school setting.
● Experience with the Cambridge International Curriculum, British National Curriculum, or
other international programmes such as the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
● A strong record of teaching experience in lower secondary education, with
demonstrable expertise in teaching, learning, and assessment.
● Proficiency in English (fluency in Spanish, Swedish, German, or another language is an
asset).
