Learning Support Leader
Location: Raoul Wallenberg International School, Palma, Mallorca, Spain
Position: Learning Support Leader (Whole School) – Full-time/Part-time (This role could
potentially be coupled with another position in the school)
Reporting to: Student Life Coordinator and Head of School
Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary commensurate with the role’s responsibilities and the
candidate’s experience. Additional benefits include professional development opportunities,

Visa Requirements: Candidates must be an EU/EEA/Swiss citizen or have a work Visa to apply.
We are unable to organise work and residence permits.

The Opportunity
Raoul Wallenberg International School (RWIS) in Palma, Mallorca, is seeking a committed and
skilled Learning Support Leader to play a pivotal role in meeting the diverse learning needs of
students across the school. This position offers the flexibility to be full-time or part-time and
could potentially be coupled with another position within the school, making it an excellent
opportunity for a professional looking to contribute in multiple capacities.
The Learning Support Leader will work closely with the Student Life Coordinator, the School
Counsellor, the Head of School, and classroom teachers to provide targeted support for
students, particularly those with diagnosed learning needs. This individual will also guide
teachers in implementing differentiated strategies, conduct diagnostic assessments, and
communicate effectively with families to ensure students receive the tailored support they
require.
This role is ideal for an educator with a passion for inclusive education and a collaborative
approach to working with students, families, and staff.
Position Scope
Student Support:
● Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify learning challenges and strengths, ensuring
appropriate support strategies are implemented.
● Collaborate with the Student Life Coordinator and School Counsellor to address the
holistic needs of students, integrating their emotional, social, and academic
development.
● Support students during transitions (e.g., between year levels or new admissions) to
ensure a smooth adjustment process.
● Teach individual and small groups of students with identified learning needs, focusing
on interventions tailored to their specific diagnoses and learning profiles.
Teacher Collaboration and Guidance:
● Guide and mentor teachers in implementing differentiated learning strategies within
their classrooms to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all students.
● Provide resources and training for staff on effective teaching strategies for diverse
learners, including those with specific diagnoses, learning delays, or exceptional
abilities.
● Partner with the Curriculum Coordinator to align learning support strategies with
broader curriculum goals.
Family Communication and Engagement:
● Serve as the primary point of contact for families regarding children with specific
diagnoses and identified learning needs, ensuring open, transparent, and supportive
communication.
● Conduct meetings with parents to discuss diagnostic results, progress, and support
strategies, fostering strong partnerships between home and school.
● Organise workshops or information sessions to help parents understand and support
their child’s learning needs at home.
Programme Development and Implementation:
● Develop and implement a comprehensive, whole-school approach to learning support
that fosters an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
● Regularly review and update the school’s learning support policies and practices in line
with best practices and international standards.
● Manage referrals to external professionals for additional assessments or specialised
support, and integrate findings into tailored support plans.
Safeguarding and Wellbeing:
● Collaborate with the safeguarding team to ensure students with additional learning
needs are supported in a safe and nurturing environment.
● Liaise with the Student Life Coordinator and School Counsellor to address barriers to
learning and ensure student wellbeing is prioritised.
Assessment and Record Keeping:
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student assessments, support plans, and
progress reports.
● Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies as needed.
Ideal Candidate
Qualifications and Experience:
● A degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, Psychology, or a related field
(Master’s degree preferred).
● Professional certification or licensure in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or a similar
area.
● At least 3–5 years of experience in a learning support or similar role, ideally within an
international school setting.
● Expertise in differentiated instruction, intervention strategies, and supporting students
with diverse learning needs, particularly those with specific diagnoses.
● Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
● Familiarity with British National Standards and international school frameworks for
learning support.
● Proficiency in English (fluency in Spanish is an advantage).
