Raoul Wallenberg School Järvastaden offers a calm and peaceful environment both inside and outside the classroom. Every term we conduct a well-being and safety survey among the pupils and in the most recent one, the school received a safety rating of 4.5 on a five-point scale.
We monitor pupils’ progress very closely from preschool class (grade 0) up to 6th grade. In addition to grades and national tests, we use modern digital knowledge tests, including LegiLexi, to monitor pupils’ progress in reading skills. Every two months, a forecast is made of each pupil’s progress in each subject, which is published for both pupils and parents on our school platform Admentum. In our advanced learning platform, Canvas, teachers publish teaching materials for the pupils. There is very close cooperation between teachers and recreation leaders so that recreation and after-school activities can also contribute to the pupils’ knowledge development.
We have professional, dedicated and well-qualified staff. The recreational staff plans and implements teacher-led recreational activities based on the national curriculum. We do a variety of different projects and offer activities that are both fun and educational for the pupils. We have a well-knit student health team with special-needs teachers, counsellors, school psychologists and others, who perform targeted preventive pupil health initiatives at the school. We promote self-confidence among the pupils and we have smaller group lessons focusing on values and self-leadership. We encourage physical activity, camaraderie and friendship, with some pupils leading exercise activities during breaks for their peers.
Raoul Wallenberg School Järvastaden is located in the heart of Järvastaden. We want to be the “School in the middle of the village” and a meeting place for the residents of Järvastaden. The school opened its doors in the autumn of 2017 and is now an established primary and junior school (grades 0-5). We are proud of our beautiful, well-lit facilities, and are committed to providing a positive environment that is conducive to learning and study. The school operates in three buildings. One building houses grades 0-3, our excellent library, restaurant, reception and student health service. The second building houses grades 4-5 and in the third, there are two preschool classes, a sports hall, an art room, a music room, and a home economics room. In the middle, surrounded by the three buildings, there is a well-equipped and stimulating schoolyard with a football pitch and basketball court. The forest and a nature reserve are just a stone’s throw away.
RWS Järvastaden is a happy, welcoming, secure school where pupils and adults get on well and take care of each other. Today we have 780 pupils attending the school.
